Water Spoiled Apple Phones: Tips What to Do?

Apple Phones

Your phone is one of the most sensitive devices that you can have right about in your hand. You can’t expose it to extreme heat. You can’t let it sit in water unless it’s waterproof which is somewhat rare for some phones. You can’t let it be full of dust and you have to be very careful in handling them lest you slip and shatter one good phone into pieces. It won’t do you any good if you can’t use your phone with its normal functions right?

But what if you accidentally let your phone slipped into water? What if you have a water spoiled iPhone? Now what are you going to do?

First of all, don’t panic. Panicking will do you no good and it’s not the answer to your problem anyway. The second thing is that when you get over the shock of dropping your phone into the water, get it out as fast as you can to prevent any more damaged. You should be thankful that you didn’t drop your phone into a mug of beer of a glass full of soda or any soft drink. The sugar and alcohol content of those drinks will make it harder for you to clean up your phone properly. In fact, you may well expect a faster corrosion that water would cause your phone.

Now, after fishing out your iPhone into the water, power it off immediately. Static and water are no good companions and not powering off might destroy your phone beyond possible repair.

If you can do it, towel your phone to dry and remove each tangible part that you can remove and dry them as much as you can. If you have an available silica gel at home, it would be good news for you. If not, you can make use of uncooked rice and a Ziploc bag. Silica gel and uncooked rice are best at absorbing water and keeping your iPhone zipped in it for at least two days will prove to give you better results. The absorbing process will also be easier than just towelling it yourself.

When you’re done keeping your phone in a Ziploc bag with uncooked rice or silica gel in it for a day or two, then you can try assembling your phone again. Of course you have to clean away some rice that may have adhered to your phone’s components. Assemble your phone back to its normal set-up and try powering it on. When you have successfully powered it up, try using it like the usual and see whether some applications or settings have been disrupted from its normal functions. When you think you have revived your phone, you should be very thankful. Your efforts proved well and now you can use your iPhone back again.

But…

What if you tried your best and your phone didn’t power up anymore? Or what if it did power up but some of its functions are not working anymore? Or what if it powered up and its functions seemed to work properly and all of a sudden it just died? Then you should know that this is the exact time for you to consider asking the help of a technician. Something technical may have happened to your phone and as a regular phone user you might not know what to do with your phone.

The better advice to take just for you to be sure is to bring your phone to a reputable phone service technician and have it checked up and repaired. You may have to spend some money with this option but it’s better than having your whole phone wasted at all.

Thanks for your tips! I never know that uncooked rice is part of the solution when there's no silica gel available. I hope my phone doesn't fall accidentally into the water or get spilled by the water. Voted up and useful.
